According to the latest data from the Taiwan Centers
for Disease Control (CDC), the domestic COVID-19 outbreak is currently
escalating and is projected to peak in mid to late June, with an estimated
55,000 to 65,000 outpatient visits per week. Recent severe and fatal cases are
mainly among those aged 65 and above or individuals with chronic
conditions—over 90% of whom had not received the JN.1 vaccine. This underscores
the importance of correct preventive measures and timely vaccination to reduce
the risk of severe illness and death.
⚠️ Key
COVID-19 Updates:
• Week 20 (May 11–17): 19,097 outpatient and emergency visits for
COVID-19—cases continue to increase.
• 93 new severe local cases and 4 deaths reported in the past week.
Year-to-date total: 330 severe cases, 47 deaths.
• JN.1 vaccine uptake reached 17,000 last week—the highest in the past 3
months.
📣
Campus Health Reminder:
To protect the health of all faculty, staff, and students, please follow these
guidelines:
- Get tested with a rapid test promptly if you experience symptoms to
reduce transmission risk.
- If you haven’t received the JN.1 vaccine, please get vaccinated as
soon as possible.
- High-risk groups are encouraged to receive a second dose for enhanced
protection.
- Continue to wear masks, wash hands frequently, and ensure good
ventilation and hygiene practices.
💉
Vaccination Information:
There are currently around 3.169 million doses of government-funded vaccines in
stock—ample supply is available.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the JN.1 vaccine continues to
offer effective protection and should remain in use. Preparations are also
underway to adapt vaccines to future variants.
✅ Who
Should Get Vaccinated?
- All individuals aged 6 months and older: Those who haven’t yet
received the JN.1 vaccine should do so promptly.
- Seniors aged 65 and above and other high-risk groups: If at least 6
months (180 days) have passed since your last dose, a second dose is
recommended.
🕒
Why Get Vaccinated Now?
It takes time for immunity to build after vaccination. To effectively lower the
risk of severe illness or death, get vaccinated before the expected outbreak
peak.
